Join Us in Cheering On Darian - Relay for Life
Rachelle's Island/Thee Matriarch B&B for Darian

The fight against cancer goes on and we know we're going to win this thing! Hardly anyone we know can say they DON'T have a friend or relative that has battled this terrible disease.  We are asking for your help in raising funds because we think it's important that we all join together to help win.

The best way to fight against cancer is through the American Cancer Society and participating in Relay For Life®. Fred and I will be dedicating our walk to Darian "Tweet" Dawson.  Darian is our nine (9) year old neice who was diagnoised leukemia on August 2, 2013.

We just signed up for Relay For Life of Orangeburg County on Friday, April 24, 2015.  It will be held at the Orangeburg County Fairgrounds starting at 6:00 pm. We are going to be cheering Darian on at our team tent, walking around, enjoying music and games, hanging out with a great community of people, all while making a difference in the fight against cancer.

Boots ‘N’ Straps

“A Way Up”

DeBorah Jamison founded and incorporated Boots ‘N’ Straps, a nonprofit organization in 1998.  Boots ’N’ Straps (BNS) takes its name from the statement and advice often given to the disadvantaged; that they should, “…pull themselves up by their bootstraps.”  The reality is that some people may not have the figurative “bootstraps.”   Some people may have the “boot strapped” attitude, but not have the resources to pursue or maintain a quality standard of living without intervention from other resources.  BNS endeavors to bridge this gap by:

Developing core comprehensive community programs that can be implemented thought-out the state.

Identify organizations, agencies and programs that are interested in contributing to the development of underdeveloped economically distressed communities.

Work with grass roots organizations to create and build their capacity to carry out programs of positive change.

Mission Statement

Its mission is to holistically impact the lives of individuals and families in rural communities.

Boots ‘N’ Straps vision is to develop and build diverse delivery systems that will provide comprehensive services dedicated to improving the quality of life for diverse stakeholders.

-Holistically improve the lives of people

-Support at risk individuals and families in transition

-Develop collaborations with existing organizations and agencies

-Provide technical support services

Mission Statement - OAH
Founded in 1969 Orangeburg Attention Homes, Inc.
Offers an alternative to psysciatric hospitalization, or more restrictive environments, for emotionally disturbed youth 12-18 years or age in Community Based Residential Treatment Homes.

Two DSS licensed residential group homes (one for boys and one for girls) that are designed to provide family-style living.

OAHI's underlying philosophy, which guides its programs and services, is based on a viewpoint.  We believe that each child is part of a large system containing home, school, community, church and social components.  The system needs to be balanced, thereby equalizing the impact of each component on the child's emotional health and behavior.  To this end, OAHI implements the Teaching Family Model, and its adaptations, in its many services to assist the youth in becoming effective participants in the family, peer groups, school and community.
